About the Event
The Lycée Français de New York (LFNY) on February 5th, 2011 celebrated the school’s 75th anniversary with a Gala at the Park Avenue Armory. The evening marked the 12th annual Gala, an event that consistently draws a star-studded crowd and is attended by more than 1,000 guests. This year the school honored French journalist Anne Sinclair with the Charles de Ferry de Fontnouvelle Award for her significant contributions to the French-American community. The 2011 Gala raised $2 million, funds which will support the school’s dynamic, multicultural environment and specifically its generous scholarship fund.
Guests included: Dominique Strauss-Kahn, Gossip Girl stars Kelly Rutherford and Matthew Settle, Director Baz Luhrmann, Designer Catherine Malandrino, Designer Reed Krakoff, Chef Eric Ripert, Susan Fales-Hill, Ulla Parker, among other luminaries.
The LFNY currently educates 1,350 students, representing over 50 nationalities, from early childhood through high school. It awards the New York State High School Diploma and prepares its students to pass the French Baccalaureate. To provide such educational benefits, the LFNY continually focuses on recruiting qualified and passionate educators from France and the United States. Community is also an integral part of the development of its students. The LFNY encourages parents, staff, students and alumni to participate in the fairs and festivals it hosts each year, and to attend performances and discussions held in its cultural center. It is thanks to the commitment of the school’s community that the LFNY is able to educate tomorrow’s world citizens.
